Melvin Zimmers, 86, of Boca Raton, Fla., formerly of Westport, died Dec. 24. He was the widower of Ruth Podell Zimmers and the husband of Claire Lipton Zimmers. He was the son of Harry and Anne Banks Zimmers.  He was a World War II veteran. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Marla Hewitt, Gary Zimmers, and Shmuel (Steven) Zimmers; his step-children, Debbie Ragals and Joshua Katz; 16 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a sister, Elaine Glicksman; and a brother-in-law, Herbert Podel.
