Theodore Kaplan next JCC President

Theodore N. Kaplan of West Hartford will be elected president of the Mandell Jewish Community Center (JCC) at the organization’s annual meeting to be held Wednesday, May 18, at 7 p.m, announced annual meeting co-chairs Michalee Merritt and Gayle Temkin. The event will also honor outgoing JCC president Brian J. Newman of West Hartford.
Stanley Wiesen, who has served on the agency’s board of directors since 1957, will receive the Gerald M. Steinberg Leadership Award.

Ted Kaplan

A fourth generation Hartford native, Kaplan is president and founder of the Kaplan Insurance Group in Farmington, and also the former president of Bisys/Crump, a national wholesale life insurance brokerage agency. He received a JD degree from George Mason School of Law and is a graduate of George Washington University. He is an active member of the Beth El Temple, serves on the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Community Foundation, and is vice chair of the Long-Range Planning Committee of the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford. He is a former board member of the Solomon Schechter Day School.of Greater Hartford. Kaplan and his wife Bobbie Woronow reside in West Hartford and are the parents of two children.
The annual meeting will also be highlighted by the election of JCC officers and board members; dedication of the new JCC elevator; recognition of staff for distinguished service; and performances by Hazamir Hartford, the new teen choir, and the JCC casts of Annie, 13 the Musical, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
