WEST HARTFORD -- Saul Pasternack and Francene Weingast were honored with The Emanuel Synagogue’s inaugural Lifetime Achievement Awards at the shul’s 92nd Annual Meeting on Tuesday evening, June 21. Pasternack has long served the congregation as both treasurer and chair of the finance committee. Weingast has served as family educator and Connections coordinator. The meeting was also highlighted by the installation of Gail Weinstein as synagogue president. She has served as assistant treasurer of the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford as chair of the Federation’s Commission on Jewish Education, and as a trustee of the Jewish Community Foundation. She currently serves as a national board member of the Jewish Education Service of North America (JESNA). Outgoing president Alan Parker will now serve as chair of Emanuel’s board of trustees. Special recognition was also given to Emanuel as an Award Winning Synagogue. During this year, the Emanuel’s USY (United Synagogue Youth) chapter was recognized as being the #1 chapter in the northeast region, and Emanuel’s brotherhood was recently awarded the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs Quality Club Award.
