Gina Broadbent

WEST HARTFORD –  Gina Broadbent has been appointed director of the Hartford Jewish Coalition for Literacy (HJCL), a program of the Jewish Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford.
In her new position, Broadbent will work closely with the greater Hartford area public schools, student and adult volunteers, and local businesses to pair volunteers with K-Grade 3 students in efforts to ensure that the young students read at or above grade level. To date, HJCL has served 3800 children, during 32,000 hours and 64,000 reading sessions. It has donated 4000 books to the students and their classrooms.
“I am a proud graduate of the Hartford public schools where I was fortunate to receive a solid academic foundation and love for learning that has served me well in my professional career and personal endeavors, said Broadbent, who previously served on the Avon and Plainville boards of education.  “I am happy to be working in a capacity where I can help to give back and improve the Hartford schools and other public school districts.”
For information on becoming a HJCL volunteer, contact Gina Broadbent at (860) 236-READ (7323) or email hjcl@jewishhartford.org.
