Hospice volunteers needed

WEST HARTFORD – Hebrew Health Care Hospice in West Hartford seeks individuals interested in sharing their time and talents with hospice patients in a variety of settings. Volunteers work wherever the patient calls home: in an assisted living, skilled nursing or independent living facility, private home or hospital. Hospice volunteers provide companionship to patients, while supporting caregivers and their families. Activities may include, but are not limited to, pet therapy visits, music, singing, reading, discussing hobbies, alternative healing methods, life stories or just sitting quietly.
Hospice volunteers must complete 20 hours of orientation training and attend 12 additional hours per year of in-service continuing education.
Training begins mid-January 2012. To begin the application process contact Jill Levin at (860) 929-7921, (860) 523-3888, or jlevin@hebrewhealthcare.org.
