Gertrude Askinas, 89, of Avon and Deerfield Beach, Fla., formerly of Fairfield, died March 22. She was the wife of the late Harold Askinas. Born in Manhattan, she was the daughter of the late Hyman and Fay (Kossoff) Salzberg. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Askinas of Philadelphia and Arlene Cohen of Avon; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister, Sylvia Mostel, and brothers, Milton Sands and Harry Salzberg.
