Richard (Dick) Harris, 87, of Avon died May 22. He was the husband of Joan Harris. As a Second Lieutenant on the U.S.S. Missouri, he was present for the Japanese surrender. He received an Asiatic-Pacific Campaign medal, an American Campaign medal and a World War II Victory medal. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Steven, James and Peter; daughters-in-law, Donna, Meghan and Martine;  grandchildren, Jennifer, Lauren, Katie, Maxwell, Evan and Lily; great-grandchildren, Hanna and Trevor; and sons-in-law Mike Smith and Kevin LeGault. He was predeceased by his daughter Julie and brother Seymour.
