Sixty-five people enjoyed a May 31 concert of Yiddish and Hebrew music by the renowned European performer Bente Kahan. Held at the Mandell JCC in West Hartford, co-sponsored by the Jewish Federation Association of CT (JFACT), The Emanuel Synagogue, Voices of Hope, the Bente Kahan Foundation and the Polish American Foundation of CT. Kahan, a native of Norway now living in Wroclaw, Poland, is founder of the Bente Kahan Foundation, which in 2010 funded the restoration of Wroclaw’s 200-year old White Stork Synagogue. Through her concerts, Kahan is attempting to raise funds for a position of Holocaust educator in the Jewish Studies Department of Wroclaw University.
