The filmtells the true story of how, in the darkest days of World War II, Jewish prisoners fought back against the Nazis…by singing, dancing and laughing.terezin_still

The screening will be followed by a discussion with Krevolin, as well as a book signing of the film’s companion piece, Making Light in Terezin: The Show Helps Us Go On, co-written with Bethany native Nancy Cohen, who will also be on hand.

The 87-minute long documentary is the culmination of two years of work by Krevolin, who spent 10 days in 2011 living in the Terezin ghetto outside of Prague.

“First, I wanted to tell the story of the discovery of a Czech Cabaret that was created and performed only once in an attic ‘theater’ in Terezin in 1943. Second, I wanted to tell the story of survivors who still remain in Prague and how the cabaret helped them to endure. And thirdI wanted to tell my own story…how I initially questioned the value of being a comedy writer, but after going to Terezin and talking to the survivors I was transformed by the inherent value, power and unquestionable importance of comedy and the arts in people’s lives.”

Tickets are $12/each. Advance ticket purchase is advised. Tickets are available at: http://makinglightinterezinticketsales.yolasite.com/ or contact Nancy Cohen at MakingLightinTerezin@gmail.com.
