Aleksey Kochkin, 28, of Albany, N.Y., formerly of Avon, died May 10. Born in Ukraine, he was the son of Leonid and Anna Kochkin of Bloomfield. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandmother, Leah Shor in Israel; his maternal grandmother, Raisa Burchak of West Hartford; his half-sister, Anna Kochkin of Kiev, Ukraine; and five cousins. He graduated from Avon High School, and received a BS from Hofstra University in New York. He entered the Ph.D. program at SUNY Albany, and was working as an assistant professor.
