Bone marrow drive in Bridgeport

A bone marrow recruitment drive will be held Friday, Jan. 17, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, Jan. 18, 7:30 – 10:30 a.m., at Congregation B’nai Israel, 2710 Park Avenue, Bridgeport. A simple cheek swab is all it takes to be registered in the donor bank – and possibly save someone’s life.

The drive is being held in honor of a synagogue member and Fairfield who is being treated for leukemia. Eligible donors must be between the ages of 18 and 60 and in general good health. Those who can’t attend can register to be a donor at www.giftoflife.org. Tax deductible contributions are also welcome to cover the cost of the lab processing fees for the swab kits.
