Elfriede Bernstein recently celebrated her 100th birthday at a party attended by family members and fellow residents at Hoffman SummerWood Community in West Hartford. After receiving proclamations from Governor Dannel P. Malloy and West Hartford Mayor Scott Slifka, Elfriede took a spin around the dance floor with her son Victor Bernstein. Born in Frankfurt, Germany, Elfriede immigrated to New York in 1936 where she worked as a seamstress in the fashion industry. She later relocated to New London where she raised her family.
