Alzheimer’s Family Training Seminar

SOUTHBURY — A free four-part Alzheimer’s Association Family Training Seminar for Caregivers is being offered at the Jewish Federation of Western CT, 444 Main St. North in Southbury. The program is intended for those caring for loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. It will be held on Tuesdays, May 6 – 27, 1 – 3 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

This training kicks off on May 6 with Dr. Joan Puglia, a Board-certified neurologist, who will discuss “Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease.” The three subsequent trainings include: “Communication Techniques, Behavioral Challenges and Safety” with Rebekah Gemza, BSW, Northwestern Regional Director of the Alzheimer’s Association; “Family Dynamics, Community Resources and Keeping the Caregiver Healthy” with Lorraine Luger, LCSW, Care Coordination Manager at Connecticut Community Care, Inc.; and Legal and Financial Issues with Attorney Ann Fowler-Cruz, Certified Elder Law Attorney at Cohen and Wolf, P.C.
