Saying thanks to friends helping friends

Two Connecticut organizations that offer programs and support to children and young adults with special needs are honoring this spring, the many teen volunteers who offer their members friendship…and so much more.

“Reflecting on the past and envisioning the future” is the theme of the Circle of Friends Evening of Recognition Gala on Sunday, May 18, 5 p.m. at the Inn at Longshore in Westport. Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, Circle of Friends will honor its more than 130 teen volunteers.

High school seniors from Westport Staples, Weston High, Wilton High and Norwalk High will receive Fellowship Awards for their combined 3,000 volunteer “friendship hours” helping children with special needs. The evening will also feature the screening of the new “Faces of Friendship” video as well as a Chinese auction raffle.

Circle of Friends is a program presented under the auspices of Beth Israel of Westport/Norwalk and sponsored in part by the Schneerson Center for Jewish Life, CT. For reservations or more information, visit www.circleoffriendsct.org, call (203) 293-8837 or email circlefriendsct@gmail.com.

The Friendship Circle will pay tribute to its 300 teen volunteers – and mark the beginning of its 13th year of operation – at a special Evening of Appreciation Mitzvah Celebration to be held on Sunday, June 1, 7 p.m. at the Stamford Hilton, 1 First Stamford Place, in Stamford. Tickets are $36. Reservations are requested by May 18. To make online reservations visit www.FriendshipCT.com/Evening.
