Cynthia Fischler

Cynthia S. (Martin) Fischler, 86 years of age, of West Hartford, Conn., formerly of Potomac, Md., died Saturday, May 31, 2014. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Dr. Samuel and Sophie (Friedman) Martin. Cynthia received her B.S. from Hunter College and M.S. from Mount Holyoke. She worked as a research assistant at Pfizer and the National Institute of Health. Cynthia was a Life Member of Hadassah and a 40-year member of the sisterhood and Chevra Kadisha at Har Shalom Congregation in Potomac, Md. Cynthia was an unconditionally devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who quickly earned adoration by all those who knew her. She leaves her husband, Sidney Fischler; her sons, Louis M. Fischler and his wife Maria of Delray Beach, Fla., and Dr. Adam H. Fischler and his wife Barbara of Avon, Conn.; her six grandchildren, Samuel, Michael, Hannah, Daniel, Sofie, and Rachel; and Francine Solomon of Boca Raton, Fla. Funeral services were held on June 2, 2014 at Mt. Ararat Cemetery, Lindenhurst, N.Y.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hadassah.
