WOODBRIDGE – The JCC of Greater New Haven’s Arts for the Center program will present an exhibit by the Rabinowitz family of Bethany – three generations of artists. The exhibit, which will be on display Sept. 8 – Oct. 13, will open with an artists’ reception on Sunday, Sept. 21, 3 – 5 p.m. at the JCC. The reception is free and open to the public.

Harold and Kiki Rabinowitz founded New Haven’s Creative Arts Workshop in 1961. A painter who also taught art at Amity Regional High School, Harold Rabinowitz received an MFA from Yale Art School in 1952. He paints nature with passionate, exuberant paint strokes, overlapping planes of color, with a personal calligraphic signature. Kiki Rabinowitz is a musician and artist.

The Rabbinowitz’s daughters are also artists. Abbie Rabinowitz received her BFA from State University of New York at Purchase and works as a computer artist, while pursuing her career as a painter; Rebecca Rabinowitz’s creates watercolor landscapes; and Sandy Rabinowitz attended Cooper Union and Parsons School of Design, where she focused on children’s book illustration. While a student, she wrote, illustrated and published the first of several picture books about horses. Today, she enjoys a career in children’s book illustration.

The JCC of Greater New Haven is located at 360 Amity Rd., Woodbridge. For more information visit jccnh.org or call (203) 387-2522.
