Hartford Jewish Community Foundation appoints two new trustees

WEST HARTFORD – The Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford Board of Trustees has announced the election of two new trustees, Steven F. Piaker and Gayle W. Temkin.

Steven Piaker is managing director and co-head of Napier Park Financial Partners, and founding partner and Management Committee member of Napier Park Global Capital, an alternative asset firm spun out of Citi in 2013. Prior to joining Financial Partners, he was a managing partner at CCP Equity Partners, where he co-managed the firm and led financial services and business services investments. Piaker joined CCP Equity Partners in 1994 from Conseco Inc., where he helped to form Conseco’s private equity funds. Prior to Conseco, he was a founding member of the financial institutions group within GE Capital Corporation’s leveraged buyout division. Piaker and his wife, Randi, and his two daughters, have been very active in the local Jewish community. Steve served on the Foundation Board from 2010-2013, and has served on the Foundation Audit and Grants Committees (including a term as Chair).

Gayle Tempkin

Gayle Tempkin

Gayle Temkin is an independent philanthropist and a community activist, with nearly 20 years of experience as a nonprofit development executive for Jewish organizations, including the UJA-Federation of New York. She is particularly engaged with the Jewish community and educational programs for youth, currently serving on the Boards of Directors of the Mandell Jewish Community Center, where she also serves as vice president, Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Hartford, Voices of Hope, the Jewish Federations Association of CT, and Hebrew High School of New England. She also serves as a community trustee of the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford. Temkin is a core member of the executive committee of the Aim Chai Endowment Campaign and the Day School Transformation Fund. She and her husband Steve are the parents of two daughters, Alyssa and Lily.
