Heart-to-heart in West Hartford

beth el torah paradeTo prepare for Simchat Torah, on Sunday, Oct. 5, Rabbi Ilana Garber of Beth El Temple in West Hartford led a Torah educational experience for the synagogue’s youngest religious school students. After a spirited parade through the chapel, the children, ages 4 – 7, learned that the last letter of the Torah – lamed – and the first letter of the Torah – “bet” – combine together to spell lev – which means ‘heart.’ The children then shared prayers that are in their hearts for the Jewish New Year.
