Malcolm Robert Waxler, 86, of West Hartford, died Nov. 7. He was the husband of Elaine (Zalasin) Waxler. Born in Worcester, Mass., he was the son of Hyman and Leah Waxler. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, serving five years in Japan and Korea onboard the aircraft carrier Shangri-La. He was a longtime member of The Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Howard Waxler and his wife Carolyn Gosney of Bristol, Kim Barone and her husband Nicholas of Simsbury, Brian Waxler and his wife Alice of Shelburne, Vt., and Daniel Waxler and his wife Donna of Unionville; his grandchildren, Shannon Waxler, Stacy Waxler, Nicholas Barone, Jr., Annie Barone, Ellen and Ryan McGinnis, Andrew Waxler, Madeline Waxler, Olivia Waxler, Hannah Waxler, Julie Waxler, and Rachel Waxler; his great-grandchildren, Hailey and Skyla; and a niece.
