Hard at work in the Mitzvah Garden.

Now in its fourth year of operation, the Mitzvah Garden located on the front lawn of Temple Beth David in Cheshire continues to produce a bounty of healthy, organic vegetables for neighbors in need. Under the expert (and loving) guidance of Larry Rosenfield, this past year 45 adults and children helped the Mitzvah Garden produce 1,784 pounds of lettuce, Swiss chard, herbs, peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, green beans, and broccoli. The majority of the vegetables were donated to the Cheshire Food Pantry and Masters Manna in Wallingford. In November, a granite marker was placed in the Mitzvah Garden to commemorate Temple Beth David’s enduring commitment to tikkun olam.
