CHANUKAH LIVE! IN GREENWICH

Congregation Shir Ami’s Chanukah Live! celebration on Dec. 19 was a swinging soiree that merged old world charm with contemporary pop culture. Held at the Round Hill Community Church in Greenwich, the party featured a foot-stompin’ Shabbat service and Chanukah candle-lighting led by the Shir Ami Rockin’ Band and choir, followed by a gourmet pot-luck dinner with latkes.

“All the prayers and songs appeared on a large screen,” said Rabbi Vicki L. Axe, the congregation’s spiritual leader (pictured here lighting candles with Israeli Young Emissaries Matan and Itamar), “so everyone’s hands were free to join in clapping and singing and dancing!”
