Greater Hartford to host Israel Festival, April 19-28

WEST HARTFORD – The Mandell JCC and 20 community partners are hosting the Israel Festival, April 19 -28. Events will be held at six different locations in the Greater Hartford area.

The festival will open on Sunday, April 19, 7 p.m. with the Yom Hashoah Community Holocaust Commemoration, followed on Tuesday, April 21, 7:30 p.m., with the Yom Hazikaron Ceremony honoring the fallen victims of wars in Israel and acts of terror.

Other highlights include:

• “An Evening with Anita Diamant” on Monday, April 20

• “El Al and Beyond Brunch & Learn,” and a talk with Israeli author and screenwriter Ron Leshem on Wednesday, April 22;

• “An Afternoon at the Museum of Jewish Civilization,” and “CAPA’IM, an Israeli Music Experience” on Thursday, April 23;

• “Shabbat with an Israeli Twist,” on Friday, April 24;

• Israeli DJ Dance Party on Saturday, April 25;

• Israel advocacy workshop for teens and a talk by Mike Kelly, author of The Bus on Jaffa Road, on Sunday, April 26;

• A screening of the films “Shores of Light” and “Body and Soul: The State of a Jewish Nation,” on Monday, April 27.
