Seymour Byer, M.D., 89, of New Britain, died May 21. He was the husband of Rosalie “Rosie” (Michlin) Byer. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Louis and Rose (Ofstein) Byer. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific during the years of 1943-46. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jeffrey A. Byer of New Britain, Richard ‘Rick’ L. Byer and his wife Janet of Farmington, Peter Byer and his wife Karen of Charlotte, N.C., Carol Byer-Alcorace and her husband Frances Alcorace of Naugatuck, and Alisa Germaine and her husband Steven of Guilford; and his grandchildren, Gabriel and Alex Byer-Alcorace, Haley and Adam Germaine, James, Jack, Joseph and Claire Byer. He was also predeceased by his sister, Phyllis (Byer) Levine.
