JFACT takes center stage in Chester

Robert J. Fishman, executive director of JFACT, the Jewish Federation Association of Connecticut, will be honored at the organization’s Annual Night at the Theatre on Sunday evening, August 2 at the Norma Terris Theatre in Chester. The evening will be highlighted by a performance of the new musical “My Paris.”

Fishman, who has led JFACT since its inception 20 years ago, will be presented with the organization’s Beryl Weinstein Award for his vision, leadership, and commitment to the Jewish community. JFACT’s past presidents will also be recognized for their dedication to the organization’s mission.

“My Paris” is a new musical about the life and times of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, the artist who captured the gaiety, color and heartbreak of Montmartre, Le Can-Can and the world of Le Moulin Rouge. Inhabited by the colorful people he painted, it is the story of a great artist who loved a world that never quite loved him back. Directed by Tony Award-winning director/choreographer Kathleen Marshall, the show features music and lyrics by the legendary French performer Charles Aznavour, with book by Oscar, Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winner Alfred Uhry, and English lyrics and musical adaptation by three-time Tony-winner Jason Robert Brown.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with cocktails, followed by the performance of “My Paris” at 6:30 p.m. The 90-minute show runs without intermission and will be followed by dinner at 8 p.m. in the theater’s lobby.  For ticket information visit jfact.org or call (860) 727-5701.
