A little nosh…a lot of talk

Jerry Fischer takes a question from the audience.

By the time Hadassah Coffee Klatch met on Thursday, Sept.17, the so-called Iran nuclear deal was already a practical reality. Still, given its significance to the Jewish community, the group felt it important to host a discussion on the subject that would spell out the deal’s pros and cons. And a spirited debate it was. Held at Ahavath Achim Synagogue Library in Colchester, the respectful discussion was led by West Hartford attorney Mark Rosenblit, who presented the deal’s downside, and Jerry Fischer, executive director of the Jewish Federation of Eastern Connecticut, who advocated in its favor. Audience members then weighed in with a host of thoughtful questions and observations.

The Klatch concluded on a positive note, as Hadassah member Marcia Reinhard expressed the hope that the American Jewish community come together in the interests of Israel’s security and remain united despite our sometimes varying opinions.
