Jewish Life

Calling all singers!

Those who love to sing are invited to join the B’Shalom Chorale, now preparing to launch its third season. Singers will have the opportunity to work with noted conductor and singer Jack Brown, musician and accompanist Joe Rose, and Cantor Emily Sleeper Mekler of Sinai Temple in Springfield, Mass., who founded and is coordinator for the group. The B’Shalom Chorale is Berkshire County’s only choral group offering a full program of Jewish music. Its mission is to preserve the treasures of music in the Jewish tradition, from various eras and genres, through public performance.

Men and women of all faiths are invited to join. Requirements for singing are a nice singing voice, preferably with some choral experience, and a willingness to learn music in 2-4 part harmonies.

A short series of weekly rehearsals begins Wednesday evening, June 1, 7:30 p.m., and continues through the concert, Wednesday evening, August 10. Rehearsals and the concert are held at Hevreh of Southern Berkshire in Great Barrington, Mass.

Chorale dues are $50. For information contact Cantor Mekler at bshalomchorale@gmail.com or (413) 531-8706.
