Shir Shalom sells South Salem facility

RIDGEFIELD — Congregation Shir Shalom in Ridgefield has announced the sale of its building in South Salem, New York. The facility, which was listed for sale in August 2015 for $1,500,000, sold on May 16 to Sapientia Education Association for $1,375,000.

Previously, the South Salem building was the home of Jewish Family Congregation, which merged with Temple Shearith Israel of Ridgefield last summer. The merged synagogue was renamed Congregation Shir Shalom and is located in Ridgefield.

In a statement released last week, Shir Shalom noted that all artwork and Judaica housed in the South Salem sanctuary have been carefully removed and are presently being stored at Shir Shalom. The congregation’s clergy and ritual committee will be tasked with recommending to its Board of Trustees the most appropriate placement of the artwork and Judaica in the synagogue.
