SALAD

 

 

Sylvia Perlmutter Salad, affectionately known as “Nanny,” passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on July 20, 2016 just shy of her 96th birthday. Sylvia was born in Willimantic, CT on September 11, 1920, the daughter of Rebecca and Samuel Kantrowitz. Our matriarch leaves behind her children, Marcy and Tony Stabile, David and Bonnie Salad, and Bruce and Zevie Salad. She leaves her grandchildren, Sheri (Paul) Tober, Dale Cohen, Scott (Christy) Cohen, Shane (Sharon) Stabile, Heather (Eric) Groenstein, Rebecca, Naomi, Marissa, and Andie Salad and seven great grandchildren along with many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husbands, David Perlmutter and Isadore Salad, daughter Gail Cohen Eisenberg, her siblings Max Kantrowitz, Grace Cohen and Helen Lashin. She owned Sylvia’s Yarn Shop in Bloomfield and was famous for her love of knitting, handmade crocheted kippot, her strong passion for fashion, especially if it was purple, her luck on the slot machine, her cha cha cha dance moves and her affection for her family and friends. Funeral services officiated by Rabbi Alan Lefkowitz will be held on Friday, July 22nd, 1:00 pm at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor with burial at Tikvoh Chadosha Cemetery on Club House Rd, Windsor. Family and friends are invited to Marcy and Tony’s home immediately following burial. Shiva will be observed at the family home in West Hartford on Sunday and Monday from 12 to 8 pm with Memorial services at 6pm on both evenings. A sincere thank you to Hebrew Home Day Care and the nurses at Hartford HealthCare Hospice for their compassion and dedication to our beloved Sylvia.
