Sheldon Karasik, 81, of West Hartford, formerly of South Windsor, died Jan. 9. He was the husband of Gail (Zieky) Karasik. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and raised in Hartford, he was the son of Irving and Minnie (Goodman) Karasik. He was a member of Beth Sholom-B’nai Israel Synagogue in Manchester. He served six years in the U.S. Army active duty and Reserves. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Bruce Karasik and his wife Michele of South Windsor, and Rona Karasik and her husband Laurin Hafner of St. Cloud, Mn.; his grandchildren, Elena Hafner, Marisa Karasik, Camryn Hafner and Sarah Karasik; his brother, Robert Karasik and his wife Barbara of West Hartford; his brother-in-law Michael Zieky and his wife Phyllis of Kendall Park, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and cousins.
