Hope sounds off

Close to 150 people filled the audience at the second “Speak Up,” hosted by Voices of Hope – a group made up of the children and grandchildren of Holocaust survivors living in Connecticut whose mission is to foster a culture of courage against hate, bigotry, and inhumanity. Held Feb. 26 at the Mandell JCC in West Hartford, the event showcased the stories of seven children of survivors. The group is planning a third speak-up this summer. Pictured here at the Feb. 26 Voices of Hope event are those who participated in both speak-ups: (l to r) Lois Berkowitz, Barbara and Jerry Sperber, Adele Jacobs, David Gerber, Dana Bock Decoteau, Jane Coppa, Allison Ghamo, Peter Fishman, Elysha Dicks, Matt Dicks and Jeff Israel.
