The Science of Sound comes to Stamford

Students at Bi-Cultural Day School in Stamford embarked on a extraordinary music-filled journey that took them from the classical days of Bach to today’s techno-wonders – teaching them a lot about the “Science of Sound.” Through her dynamic multi-media presentation “Science of Sound,” creator Caryn Lin literally transformed sound using a five-string electric violin and a myriad of modern techniques, including looping and other effects – to produce unique soundscapes and made three-dimensional sound waves become visible. Students were introduced to the many scientific concepts involved in the creation of live music. Students came away with a basic understanding of how technology can be used to create music.
