CPTV celebrates Jewish American Heritage Month

In observance of Jewish American Heritage Month CT Public Television (CPTV) is airing documentaries throughout May that explore the diverse facets of Jewish history and contemporary culture. The documentaries range from 60-90 minutes in duration and include new Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) documentaries as well as recent award-winning works by independent filmmakers from the United States and Israel. Among the programs scheduled is “Holocaust Escape Tunnel,” which recounts the efforts of a team of archaelogists led by Dr. Richard Freund, director of the Greenberg Center at the University of Hartford, to unearth a concentration camp escape tunnel.

Program schedule:

May 14, noon – Dead Reckoning: Blind Eye

May 15, 10 p.m. – Holocaust Escape Tunnel

May 15, 11 p.m. – Forever Pure

May 21, 12 p.m. – Dead Reckoning: In Our Time

May 25, 8 p.m. – Harvesting Stones
