Jed Margolis, formerly of Connecticut, set to retire as head of Maccabi USA

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania – Jed Margolis will retire as executive director of Maccabi USA after 15 years of service, it was announced recently by the organization’s president, Ron Carner. Margolis is a former resident of Bloomfield and served for several years in the early 2000s as executive director of the Mandell JCC (then known as the Greater Hartford Jewish Community Center).

“How fortunate both Maccabi USA and I have been to have had Jed Margolis as our executive director for the past seven and one-half years of my Presidency. His dedication to our mission of building Jewish pride through sports, his 24/7 work ethic, his commitment to the State of Israel, and his awareness of the importance of the credibility of our project, have been invaluable to our organization,” Carner said. “It will not be easy to find a successor. I hope he will stay involved with us as a volunteer for many more years.”

Margolis has served as executive director since 2002, after first getting involved with Maccabi USA as a basketball athlete at the 9th World Maccabiah Games in 1973. Afterward, he stayed involved as a volunteer, rising to a vice president and USA Team Manager for the Maccabiah in 2001.

Prior to joining Maccabi USA as executive director, Margolis worked in the JCC world for 28 years in Cleveland, Cherry Hill, St. Louis, in addition to West Hartford.

A search committee has been formed to find a successor to Margolis as the organization’s executive director. For more information, visit www.maccabiusa.com or submit resumes to jmargolis@maccabiusa.com through August 15.
