Joel Arnold Kalafa, of West Hartford died Sept. 5. He was the widower of Marcia Kalafa. He was the son of the late Samuel Kalafa and Yetta (Wachtel) Kalafa. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a dentist during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his brother Milton Kalafa; his children, Amy Kalafa and her husband Alex Gunuey of Weston, and David Kalafa and his wife Carmela Cortese of Middletown; his grandchildren, Nicole Cooney and her husband Tynan of Middletown, Sadie Gunuey Wylie and her husband Marco Wylie of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Emma Gunuey of Providence, R.I.; his great-grandchildren, Greyson and Gwenevere Cooney; and his nieces and nephews and their families.
