Addiction in the Digital Age

Some 400 people attended the screening of the documentary film, “Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age,” held recently at the Mandell JCC. Hosted by Jewish Family Services of Greater Hartford (JFS), Tara’s Closet and the JCC, the film was followed by a panel discussion moderated by WFSB-TV’s Dennis House and lead by UConn professor Dr. David Greenfield, founder of the Center for Internet and Technology Addiction, which highlighted behavioral addictions and the growing internet addiction problem facing today’s society. The panel discussion offered insights from local teenagers, Dylan Landau and Amber Raisner; and advice for parents from JFS mental health professionals Janice Rothstein and Shayna Ull.
