Dr. Joseph “Joe” Weiss, 70, beloved husband to Arlene, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 17, 2017 in New York City, with his wife and three children by his side. Joe was born in New York City and resided in West Hartford, Conn. with his family for more than four decades. Joe graduated from Brooklyn College, where he met his best friend and soulmate Arlene. He later received his medical degree from St. Louis University. Joe practiced dermatology in both New Britain and Southington for over 40 years; he was dedicated to helping people and worked up until the day of his diagnosis with glioblastoma. Joe was an incredibly active person and had a zest for living his life in the outdoors. Hiking, windsurfing, running, golfing, and gardening were several of the activities he enjoyed most. Joe had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, travel, and dreaming big. His most beloved activity was spending time with his family. He leaves his daughter and son-in-law Allyson and Jared Horowitz, daughter and son-in-law Marissa and Adam Forsted, and son and daughter-in-law Richard and Meg Weiss. Joe was an exceptionally devoted parent as well as a wonderful grandfather to Jolie and Jake Horowitz and Ian and Isaac Forsted.
