New Haven Jewish Historical Society honors two community leaders

WOODBRIDGE – Judy Alperin, chief executive officer of Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven, and Lisa Stanger, executive director of the Jewish Foundation of Greater New Haven, will be recognized for their leadership and outstanding contributions to the New Haven Jewish community at the annual dinner of the Jewish Historical Society of Greater New Haven. The kosher buffet dinner marks the agency’s 42nd anniversary. Co-sponsored by the Jewish Federation, it will be held Sunday, June 3, 4 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center, 360 Amity Road, Woodbridge.

Founded in 1976, the society’s mission is to collect and preserve photographs, letters, newspaper articles, and memorabilia documenting the history of Jewish life in Greater New Haven, and to educate the public as to the history and contributions of the Jewish community. The collection is archived and available to researchers and others with an interest in the subject. Ten volumes of Jews in New Haven have been published by the society.
