Sidney Fischler, 95 years of age, of Avon, Conn., formerly of Potomac, Md. and West Hartford, died Tuesday, April 24, 2018. He was the husband of the late Cynthia (Martin) Fischler. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Louis and Lena Fischler. Sidney attended Brooklyn College and Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute where he earned a Masters degree in Physics. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was honorably discharged. His employment included positions at MIT Lincoln Laboratory and National Bureau of Standards. He leaves his sons, Louis M. Fischler and his wife Maria of Delray Beach, Fla., and Dr. Adam H. Fischler and his wife Barbara of Avon, Conn.; and six grandchildren, Samuel, Mikayla, Hannah, Daniel, Sofie and Rachel. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
