SOWALSKY

Clara (Greenberg) Sowalsky, 102, of West Hartford, died Feb. 3. She was the widow of Meyer S. “Mickey” Sowalsky. Born in Albany, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Adolf and Rachel (Hershkowitz) Greenberg. She was a graduate of Weaver High School, an owner of Bishop Travel Service in West Hartford, and a devoted member of Beth El Temple of West Hartford for more than 60 years. She was an active member of Beth El Temple’s KNITzvah group, and a volunteer for many years at the Hebrew Center for Health and Rehabilitation in West Hartford, where, at age 97, she received the “Volunteer of the Year” award. She is survived by her children, Cheryl S. Rodrick of West Hartford, Joel M. Sowalsky and his wife Jan Glassman of Brookline, Mass., and Rabbi Howard Sowalsky and his wife Dora of West Hartford; her brother, Harold Greenberg and his wife Madeline of Delray Beach, Fla.; his sister, Edythe Day of Boynton Beach, Fla.; his grandchildren, Andrew (Danielle) and Robert Batchelder, Elizabeth (Matthew) Grande, Kathryn (Paul) Schaeffer, Emily (with David) Kieval, Jessica (Daniel) Trujillo, and Adam (Jessica), Joshua (with Suzanne Chipkin), Richard (Stephanie), and Hannah and Joseph Sowalsky; and his great-grandchildren, Samuel and Olivia Batchelder, Catalina Grande, Ella, Mickey and Asher Schaeffer, Mira and Yonatan Kieval, and Ari Sowalsky.
