A new life for Emanuel’s old Torah covers

When The Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford had new Torah covers made by Judaic artist Jeanette Kuvin Oren in May of 2018, the congregation had a hard time letting go of the well-loved Torah covers they had used for many years. The Emanuel has now taken elements of the retired Torah covers to create three wall hangings, designed by congregants Beth Goldberg and Elizabeth Ehrlich. The framing of the 40”-by-30” wall hangings is dedicated to Arthur Fishman by his family. (Fishman was responsible for saving the stained glass from Emanuel’s old Hartford sanctuary and creating the stained glass towers in the current sanctuary.) The wall hangings will officially dedicated at Shabbat Services on Saturday, Sept. 28.
