It was the first annual "Seder Plate" basketball tournament for middle school girls, hosted by Ezra Academy in Woodbridge. In addition to Ezra, participating teams came from Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Hartford (SSDS) in West Hartford, Westchester Fairfield Hebrew Academy (WFHA) in Greenwich, and Bi-Cultural Day School (BCDS) in Stamford.
When the final buzzer sounded, Ezra took the championship, with BCDS, SSDS and WFHA in second, third and fourth place, respectively. The all-tournament team consisted of Hannah Klapper (BCDS), Sara Schulwolf (SSDS), Leah Nusbaum (WFHA), and Rachel Plotke of Woodbridge (Ezra), who led all girls in scoring.
"The boys' basketball teams have had wonderful opportunities to show what they can do. We wanted to show the great talents that our girls have as well. This is a tournament that we look forward to hosting for many years to come," said Barnett Goldman, Ezra Academy athletic director and coordinator of the Seder Plate. Goldman coached the winning team, together with Meredith Abel.
