GLASTONBURY - Rainy weather did not deter hundreds of local residents from joining in a joyful dedication ceremony welcoming a newly written Torah to its permanent home in the sanctuary of the Benet Rothstein Chabad Jewish Center in Glastonbury on Sunday, Oct 18 - the 30th day of the Hebrew month of Tishrei. The scroll, which took nearly a year to write, was dedicated by Ilya Tsvok in loving memory of his son, Mark, who died in 2004 at the age of 15 from injuries sustained in a car accident.
"The Mark Tsvok Memorial Torah has already brought much joy to many local families," said Rabbi Yosef Wolvovsky, director of the Glastonbury Chabad. "It will surely continue to do so for many years to come."
