Author of "Saving Israel" to discuss future of the Jewish state in Westport WESTPORT--Dr. Daniel Gordis, senior vice president of the Shalem Center, where he is also a senior fellow, will discuss "The Future of Israel, Zionism and the U.S.-Israel Alliance," on Sunday, Dec. 6, 11:30 a.m. at Conservative Synagogue in Westport. The Fairfield County community-wide event is hosted by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and is open to the public. Since moving to Israel in 1998, Gordis has written and lectured throughout the world on Israeli society and the challenges facing the Jewish state. His writing has appeared in magazines and newspapers including The New York Times, the New Republic, Moment, Tikkun, and Conservative Judaism. His latest book, "Saving Israel: How the Jewish People Can Win a War That May Never End" was published earlier this year. In 2007, Gordis joined Shalem, a Jerusalem-based research and educational institute, to help found Israel's first liberal arts college. He previously served for nine years as vice president of the Mandel Foundation and director of its Leadership Institute. The Conservative Synagogue is located at 30 Hillspoint Rd. in Westport.
