Passover prep in Fairfield Every Passover, residents of The Jewish Home in Fairfield ,and their families, participate in the Home's communal seders and festive holiday meals. This year, however, there'll be a new twist on an old tradition when Rabbi Stephen Shulman, the Home's new Director of Pastoral Services adds his personal perspective to the holiday observance. "Being at The Jewish Home is a wonderful opportunity to be in a community where people of many cultures are committed to a common goal of comfort and care," says Shulman. "I am most happy to be here." Prior to assuming his new post at the Jewish Home in January 2010, Rabbi Shulman served as senior Rabbi for Continuum Hospice Care, staff chaplain at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and civilian Jewish chaplain for the U.S. Coast Guard base at Governor's Island. From 1988 to 1991, he served in Israel as rabbi and educator at the Conservative Synagogue of Ra-anana, a suburb of Tel Aviv, and at Kibbutz Hanaton, near Haifa. He currently serves on the executive board of the New York Board of Rabbis and is a former member of the executive board of the National Association of Jewish Chaplains. "Rabbi Shulman brings a vast array and depth of experience to The Jewish Home," said Andrew H. Banoff, President and CEO. "We are thrilled he has joined our team."
