Four CT rabbis receive honorary Doctorates

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Four Connecticut rabbis were among a group of Conservative spiritual leaders to be awarded honorary Doctorates at the Jewish Theological Seminary’s (JTS) convocation honoring members of the Rabbinical Assembly. All 48 rabbis have served the Jewish community with distinction for a quarter-century or more. The ceremony was held on Thursday, May 27 on the JTS campus in New York City.

Professor Arnold M. Eisen, JTS chancellor, conferred the degrees and delivered the keynote address. Those honored included congregational rabbis, Jewish communal professionals, educators, and chaplains from the United States, Canada, and Israel.
The four Connecticut rabbis were: Rabbi Richard Eisenberg, former spiritual leader of Congregation B’nai Jacob in Woodbridge; Rabbi Joshua Hammerman of Temple Beth El in Stamford; Rabbi Marshal Press of South Windsor; Rabbi James Rosen of Temple Beth El in West Hartford.
