Learning to look back

Genealogist Avrum Geller (left) and Rabbi Ron Fish

Genealogist Avrum Geller (left) and Rabbi Ron Fish of Congregation Beth El in Norwalk recently held a three-part adult education series entitled “Who Do You Think You Are?” at the synagogue.

Geller’s presentations focused on how to navigate the complex treasure troves of genealogical information, while opening a window into the hopes, dreams and fears of those who had the courage to leave one world for another. Fish brought the story of Congregation Beth El to life by examining the history of those Jews who first settled in Norwalk, and by following the waves of immigration that helped to create the vibrant community that exists today.
