Going to the dogs in Fairfield

Rose Weinstein, a Home resident, enjoys Phoebe’s charms, as Alice Weissman (left) and Sheana Joyner, a certified nursing assistant, look on.

Residents of The Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield rang in the New Year with an old friend – Phoebe, a champagne poodle who stops by for a visit every Thursday morning, arrived on Dec. 30 decked out in a festive “Happy New Year” scarf  to spread good cheer and wish everyone the best in 2011. As always, Phoebe was accompanied by Alice Weissman of Easton, who has been the volunteer coordinator of the Home’s pet therapy program for more than 30 years.
