Sweet Home Alabama

B’nai Israel’s home staging team helped to clean and furnish a Cordova house devastated by the tornadoes. They included (left to right) Suzanne Philip, George Markley, social action committee coordinator Lorrie Wexler, and family educator Elaine Chetrit.

Members of Congregation B’nai Israel in Bridgeport left town a couple of weeks ago for a social action mission to Cordova, Ala., – a small town about 40 minutes outside of Birmingham in which 70 homes and four lives were lost during the devastating tornadoes a few months ago.  The B’nai Israel group spent the week working with other volunteers to rebuild and repair two homes that will then be provided rent-free to residents for one year.
