BLOOMFIELD – The Sisterhood of Beth Hillel Synagogue in Bloomfield has published a new cookbook, “Yum Tov Cookbook – Not Just Your Bubby’s Recipes.” This one-of-a-kind book is a compilation of more than 180 recipes collected from Sisterhood members and members of the congregational family, past and present.
According to cookbook co-chairs, Marla Cohen and Sheila Frankel, “The unique feature of this cookbook is that it focuses on the Jewish holiday cycle. Each section is preceded by a holiday description including customs and observances and is beautifully illustrated featuring photographs of the synagogue’s chapel windows that depict, in stained glass, the various symbols of each holiday.”
Each recipe credits the contributors as well an indexed listing in the back of the book. Also included is information about kashrut and how to keep a kosher kitchen.
The cookbook is available for purchase at the synagogue office: 160 Wintonbury Ave. Proceeds from the book sale will be used to further Sisterhood programs.
