Fairfield walks to stop hunger

Members of Congregation Beth El in Fairfield put their best foot forward to help in the fight against hunger by joining with hundreds of others in the recent Connecticut Food Banks’ Walk Against Hunger at Seaside Park in Bridgeport. The Beth El team, headed by Betty Feldman, raised more than $1600 for the food bank to earn a spot among the top five fundraising teams. Seventh and eighth graders in Beth El religious school also got into the spirit by holding a car wash and bake sale that raised several hundred dollars towards the team's efforts. The Connecticut Food Bank distributes food and other resources to about 600 local emergency food assistance programs such as soup kitchens and shelters.
